Hump Day Thoughts on Sports and Stuff – 1/9/13

by Steve Farace

Ah – my very first entry of 2013 and we have TONS to get to. Here we go!

First of all – Mr. Musburger, you should be ASHAMED of yours– haha – I couldn’t do it. Are you kidding me? ESPN releases an apology to Katherine Webb (girlfriend of a certain national champion QB from Alabama) because Brent Musburger said that she was beautiful on air and that all of the college QB’s get pretty girlfriends? Is that some kind of late breaking news that wasn’t supposed to be leaked? I mean, seriously now, what did he do wrong?? It was a good job by Katherine Webb to say that there was no apology needed. What the hell is the world coming to.

Coaches Corner – 10/23/12

My two-minute warning

Captain Clutch!

Eli Manning’s heroics under pressure never shock me.  Down three with less than two minutes! No problem.  On the biggest stage and in the biggest city, it doesn’t affect the most unassuming star that Gotham city has ever produced.  Injuries and back ups never faze him. There’s never an excuse and  there’s never anyone to blame.

Windy City Sports Report – 8/20/12

Hello sports fans, welcome to the latest Windy City Sports Report. In today’s spot, do the White Sox still have a hold of first place? How are the Cubs’ kids faring? How are the Bears looking so far in the preseason?

The Sox opened the week with a 2 game lead in the AL Central over the Detroit Tigers. They had a 4 game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. They dropped a tough opening game 3-2 in extra innings. Starter Jake Peavy pitched well, allowing only 2 runs over 8 innings, but could only get a no-decision. The only offense for the Sox was Adam Dunn, who hit 2 solo home runs.

Mock Draft

By Carlton Cabey

1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck QB Stanford

Luck’s name has been in that slot for 2 years now. The only unknown was the team. How lucky is the Colts organization to go from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck. Sure he’ll take some bumps but this guy looks just as good as advertised and even better.

2. Washington Redskins(from STL): Robert Griffin III QB Baylor

The Redskins moved made the big trade with the Rams to move up and get the 2nd pick. Only time will tell if they gave up too much for him but you definitely have to like his upside. He has all the intangibles to someday be the best quarterback in the league.

Coaches Corner – 3/10/12

by Yankee Todd

March 10th, 2012

My son Andrew and I went to see the Knicks when they came to our hometown of San Antonio last Wednesday evening.

Here are my reflections from the game.

I have never waited in line to enter the AT&T Center before any game.  This game had us waiting to get inside.  Lin-Sanity had invaded the Alamo City.

I saw two true Knicks fans.  Many other Knick fans were in attendance but I could tell these two gentleman were true fans.  How so?

Coaches Corner – 3/5/12

Coach’s Corner

March 5, 2012

Paul Pierce continues to be a cold-blooded assassin in the big situations. His performance at the end of the Knicks game was epic.

My memo to the Celtics management . . . please trade Rajon Rondo. All he did was score 18 points, grab 17 boards and dish out 20 assists. He continued to find Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett in situations where they could be effective. His performance was simply awesome.

Coach’s Corner 8

February 20, 2012

What a difference the last few games make. The Knicks were like an animal at the side of the road that had been run over. They were in desperate need of assistance or the season was going to be over before the all star break.

That assistance has arrived in New York and as Nike billboards’ likes to point out – We are all witnesses.
