Hump Day Thoughts on Sports and Stuff – 1/16/13

by Steve Farace

Hey all – did ya miss me since last week? No? You don’t have to be so direct. Anyway, I am back again for another hump day potpourri. Here we go!

Why does everyone seem to open up to Oprah? What is it about her? The latest was Lance Armstrong. He apparently has come clean about being on performance enhancing drugs. What is it with these people? Do they not think they are going to get caught? I think it’s absurd. Not only are they cheaters, but they are thieves as well. They have stolen money by using a fake body and fake conditioning. Listen, to me cycling is not a sport – it is simply what people do for recreation – sorry to offend anyone, but this is my article. The man made a ton of money during his career and now we are finding out that he has done even worse. He has basically stomped on all of the people who knew about what he was doing. People tried to step in and he actually sued people because of the “outrageous allegations”. Are you kidding me?? Wow…just wow. I can’t wait to see all of the repercussions.

Windy City Sports Report – 1/7/13

Hello sports fans, Carlos here with the first Windy City Sports Report for 2013. In this edition – who will be the Bears’ next coach? The Bulls beat WHO and lost to WHOM? Is hockey really coming back?

Well, Saturday was the Wild Card round in the NFL playoffs. The Bears were prepping for…oh wait, that did not happen, did it?

Nope, it did not happen. The Minnesota Vikings beat the Packers (yet another reason to hate the Packers) to grab the last spot in the NFC playoff bracket. Instead of traveling to San Francisco to face the 49ers, Lovie Smith got his traveling papers out of Chicago.

Coaches Corner – 11/29/12

My 2 minute warning

I can’t keep up with the conference shuffling! Who knew San Diego State was now in the Big East?

What’s going to happen when Rutgers and Kent State are in the BCS this year? Can’t we just have a playoff once and for all?

Hump Day Thoughts on Sports – 8/15/12

by Steve Farace

Let me first apologize for not having a Hump Day article last week! I was nearing my death-bed with a bout of Strep Throat…but you can all rest easy now – I’m doing much better!

Have you ever watched Locked Up Abroad on National Geographic? If you haven’t, you are missing something special. This could be one of the more addicting shows on television right now. Basically, it is about people from countries like the United States and England getting into major trouble and doing time in countries like Venezuela and Egypt. It is crazy what happens to people in jail in those countries. There many holy “bleep” moments during the show – check it out! It’s on Monday nights…throw it on your DVR so you can skip the commercials! On to some Hump Day Thoughts on Sports!

Hump Day Thoughts on Sports – 7/18/12

by Steve Farace

Loyalty – that’s a strong word isn’t it? It can be meant to describe many things in life. Maybe you are referring to your loyal pooch, Hammer. Maybe you are referring to your loyal and devoted husband or wife. What about being loyal to your job? Have you guys read the story about Marissa Mayer? She had worked with Google since 1999 – in fact she was their 20th employee. She has been working there for 13 years and it was just announced that she was leaving Google to become the new CEO of Yahoo! Now, Yahoo used to be one of Google’s main competitors, but is struggling, so I guess Mayer is looking to revive them. It makes you think, though, which side of the fence was the lack of loyalty? Google or Mayer? Holy Johnny Damon, Batman! Let’s get to it:
