End of Watch
From the writer of Training Day, End of Watch is a riveting action thriller that puts audiences at the center of the chase like never before. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña star as young LA police officers who discover a secret that makes them the target of the country’s most dangerous drug cartel. — (C) Open Road
I repeatedly saw the trailer for End of Watch and I wasn’t impressed. Once again, I was wrong. End of Watch is a devastating crime/buddy cop movie in the tradition of Training Day. We will be giving this bad boy away this week on Blu-Ray, so make sure you enter the contest. It is so worth it.
I loved Training Day, so End of Watch was something that I wanted to see in the theaters, but just didn’t get around to it. I might have to watch it before sending the movie out to our contest winner – you guys don’t mind if it is slightly used, do you?
A sexually and racially charged film noir from Oscar-nominated director Lee Daniels (Precious), The Paperboy takes audiences deep into the backwaters of steamy 1960s South Florida, as investigative reporter Ward Jansen (Matthew McConaughey) and his partner Yardley Acheman (David Oyelowo) chase a sensational, career-making story. With the help of Ward’s younger brother Jack (Zac Efron) and sultry death-row groupie Charlotte Bless (Nicole Kidman), the pair tries to prove violent swamp-dweller Hillary Van Wetter (John Cusack) was framed for the murder of a corrupt local sheriff. Based on the provocative bestselling novel by Pete Dexter (Mulholland Falls, Rush), The Paperboy peels back a sleepy small town’s decades-old façade of Southern gentility to reveal a quagmire of evil as dark as a Florida bayou. — (C) Official Site
What a strange film. Anyone that is interested in Nicole Kidman giving Zac Efron a golden shower, this is your opportunity. The Paperboy is definitely not for everyone, if you didn’t like Killer Joe, you definitely won’t like The Paperboy. You have been warned!
Very odd. There is also something about Nicole Kidman that I have never liked. I’d say don’t do it to yourself.
That’s all for this week. Next week we have Seven Psychopaths with my personal hero Christopher Walken. Hotel Transylvania for the younglings. Paranormal Activity 4 for those of you that like watching the same movie over and over, and last but not least The Awakening. Have a great week everyone.
