Killing Them Softly

Three dumb guys rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse. Brad Pitt plays the enforcer hired to track them down and restore order. Killing Them Softly also features Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Scott McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, and Vincent Curatola. Max Casella, Trevor Long, Slaine and Sam Shepard also make appearances. — (C) Weinstein

Scott’s Take

While the plot of Killing Them Softly looks like a “been there, done that” patchwork of a million mob related movies we’ve seen before, the combination of Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini in a movie involving the mob are worth the price of admission. I hear it’s not for the faint of heart. This one has my attention.

Steve’s Take

Steve is going to watch anything pertaining to the mob. I never used to like movies that include Mr. Pitt, but I’ve come around on him. The last movie I saw Gandolfini in was Surviving Christmas and that was a disaster. All that being said, I’m in on this one. Enjoy.

The Collection

When Elena’s (Emma Fitzpatrick) friends take her to a secret party at an undisclosed location, she never imagined she would become the latest victim of The Collector, a psychopathic killer. The Collector kidnaps and transports her to an abandoned hotel he’s transformed into his own private maze of torture and death. Upon learning of his daughter’s disappearance, Elena’s wealthy father (Christopher McDonald) hires a group of mercenaries to retrieve her from the vicious grips of The Collector.  These mercenaries coerce Arkin (Josh Stewart), the only man to have escaped the wrath of this heinous monster, to lead them through the gruesome labyrinth. Now, Arkin finds himself fighting for his own life in order to save Elena. — (C) Official Site

Scott’s Take

While I fell victim to the The Collector, which was mediocre at best, the word on the street is that this follow-up film is much better than its big brother.  That being said, I was fooled with The Collector and you won’t catch me anywhere near The Collection.  I will wait for Redbox.

Steve’s Take

See Scott’s take – Steve agrees. I might not even watch it when it comes to Redbox.

Next Time

There you have it. A wide selection of movies coming out between this Friday and Thanksgiving. Silver Linings Playbook is in limited release. Next time we have Killing Them Softly with Brad Pitt and The Collection. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
