I want to piggy-back on my opening for last week for a moment. If you are reading this and have any intention of watching Dexter, please let me first warn you about a spoiler alert coming up. If you have yet to watch Dexter and you plan to, then please skip ahead to the start of the article. My main point here is that if you are not completely caught up with a television show that you are watching, DO NOT like it on Facebook! Here I am watching Dexter from season 1 a couple of years ago and I’m mid-way through season 4 when the preview for season 5 pops up on the Dexter Facebook page – how will Dexter cope with Rita’s death? WHAT?!?!?!?!?! Rita DIED?? How??? WHY?!?!? After my confusion as to why the Dexter Facebook page would do something like that without having the common courtesy to give a “spoiler alert” to start the status update, I bawled my eyes out. Ok, maybe not, but still! I’m still made about that! On to sports, damn it…
Did you all see the injuries from baseball from last night? Matt Kemp runs 90 mph into the center field fence in Colorado and Yadier Molina gets trucked in Pittsburgh. Both look like they will miss a few games, but both are lucky to not have bad concussions and lucky to not land on the DL. The Dodgers now have a stacked line-up, but the Cardinals will be in trouble if Yadier has to miss more than a handful of games. He has to be their all-around MVP this year with his incredible hitting and unbelievable catching skills and doing great things with that staff. I don’t wish harm on anyone, but I hate the Cardinals anyway. Yes, I’m still hurt from game 6 in 2006. Leave me alone!
What do you all think about what the Dodgers are doing? Well they grabbed Adrian Gonzalez from the Red Sox and took on 2 of their more troublesome contracts. Carl Crawford, who is already being called a bust, still has 5 years to make good on his contract and Josh Beckett might just turn things around in going back to the NL a la A.J. Burnett. The Red Sox got James Loney and few nice prospects back and I think we can all agree that this was a good move for the Red Sox despite what they had to give up. It was time for them to give up on this year and save all of the money they used in a failing situation. Now, let’s see what they do – I have a feeling they will reinvest in the team with some Bobby V kinda guys. We shall see, but there are a lot of disappointed BoSox fans out there.
Let’s talk about something else that is really grinding my gears. The NFL announced today that they will be moving into week 1 with replacement referees. As if the regular referees don’t make calls that are bad enough. Here we go with replacement referees. The word earmuffs will be used by men with young children a lot more often on Sunday afternoons, evenings, Mondays and don’t forget the Thursday night games. They better get on their A game. Who knows…maybe they might actually be better than the regular referees, which would make this paragraph completely useless.
Victor Cruz voted best dressed NFL player by Esquire, followed by Larry Fitzgerald, Tom Brady, Clay Matthews, RGIII and Reggie Bush. That’s my boy Cruz! Nice job leading the league in something that means nothing! Now go out there and focus on those Cowgirls next week!
That’s about all for this week! Hope your hump day is going well and that you’re on your way to an enjoyable weekend! If I missed something or if you’d like to battle it out on something you didn’t agree with feel free to leave a comment!
Talk to you guys next hump day!
