From the directors of the hit film Open Water, Silent House is a uniquely unsettling horror thriller starring Elizabeth Olsen as Sarah, a young woman who finds herself sealed inside her family’s secluded lake house. With no contact to the outside world, and no way out, panic turns to terror to terror as events become increasingly ominous in and around the house. Directed by filmmaking duo Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, Silent House uses meticulous camera choreography to take the audience on a tension-filled, real time journey, experienced in a single uninterrupted shot. — (C) Open Road
Scott’s Take – 2 1/2 Stars
Technically, Silent House is a marvel. Elizabeth Olsen is going to be a star. Watch the camera focuses on her face at every point of tension. She absolutely owns every scene. The problem with Silent House is that it takes too long getting to what ultimately ends up to being a very predictable conclusion. I don’t recommend going out and buying Silent House, but I do advise you to rent or grab this one on pay per view strictly for Olsen’s performance.
That’s all for this week. Next week we have ATM and LOL. Seriously. Those are the names of next weeks releases. It’s going to be a slow week for movies.
