The Hunter

The Hunter is the story of Martin, a skilled and ruthless mercenary sent into the Tasmanian wilderness on a hunt for a tiger believed to be extinct. Hired by an anonymous company that wants the tiger’s genetic material, Martin arrives in Tasmania posing as a scientist. He proceeds to set up base camp at a broken-down farmhouse, where he stays with a family whose father has gone missing. Usually a loner, Martin becomes increasingly close to the family; however, as his attachment to the family grows, Martin is led down a path of unforeseen dangers, complicating his deadly mission. — (C) Official Site

Scott’s Take – 2 1/2 Stars

What a slow week.  I recommend you see The Hunter solely on Willem Dafoe’s performance. If there is a guy you want with you if you get stuck in the woods, it’s Martin.  Dafoe is a bad ass. The rest of The Hunter, not so much!

God Bless America

Frank (Joel Murray) has had enough of the downward spiral of American culture. Divorced, recently fired, and possibly terminally ill, Frank truly has nothing left to live for. But instead of taking his own life, he buys a gun and decides to take out his frustration on the cruelest, stupidest, most intolerant people he can imagine — starting with some particularly odious reality television stars. Frank finds an unusual accomplice in a high-school student named Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr), who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement. Together they embark on a nationwide assault on our country’s most irritating celebrities. — (C) Magnet Releasing

Scott’s Take – Not Reviewed

I saw God Bless America on Pay Per View about 3 months ago at 2am.  I was sleeping by 2:50.  It’s a satire that just isn’t funny.  I suppose as a reviewer I should probably give this one another chance before giving a coherent opinion, but I don’t think I feel like it. This one is on you guys.  You try doing some heavy lifting!

Next Week

That’s all we have releasing this week.  Seriously? I suppose everyone will be planning picnics and blowing off their fingers with firecrackers!  Have a Happy 4th of July everyone!!  Next week we have American Reunion.
