Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet-or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. — (C) Warner Bros.
When I first heard Tim Burton was going to make Dark Shadows, I was giddy. I thought about all of the possibilities Burton could bring to the table with his dark visionary storytelling. Once I saw the trailer, it was like someone tied a 700lb anvil to my ankle and threw me in the ocean. Let’s take an 80’s vampire series and turn it in to a comedy. Dark Shadows looks like Beetlejuice gone bad. It’s going to be tough watching this one. Let’s hope for the best, but color me extremely unimpressed. On a different note, Ava Green is hot!
Skip this one and go directly to see Avengers. If you have already seen it, please do so again. The theaters are still packed and Avengers is generating TONS of money. Why are you still reading this??? Go NOW!
That is all for this week. If you didn’t get to see The Avengers, the crowds have died down a tad, so now is your chance. Otherwise it’s Beetlejuice 2 for you! Next week we have the hilarious Sacha Baron Cohen in The Dictator. Have a great weekend.
