Should Bulls and fans be concerned?

13 Feb

Derrick Rose has battled guards, forwards, and centers. He has battled double teams, picks and rolls, and zone defenses.

He has also battled injuries. He missed 5 games due to a toe injury, and now missed the last two games because of a back injury.

This latest injury is something that may cause the Chicago Bulls some concern.

The Bulls have just finished a nine game in fourteen days road trip and apparently Rose has had the back discomfort throughout the trip. “It’s been hurting the whole trip. I just played through it. It tended to get worse after every game. I was really worried about it. But I’m trying to stay positive. I don’t know what the diagnosis is. I just know my back is not right.”

I was really worried about it? Throughout his previous injury, Rose has said everything was okay and that he just needed some time. There was never a mention of “being worried.”

Rose continued on, and it sounded scarier: “It just came from out of nowhere. That’s the scary thing about it. I could barely walk (after New Orleans). It’s killing me not being able to play, especially this game, or when I do play my minutes are definitely down. Hopefully, I’ll get treatments and it calms down. If not, I’ll take my time.”

Coach Tom Thibodeau chimed in on the issue. “It’s not cleared up as much as we would like. He still has a little bit of stiffness. You’re always concerned. It’s something he has had before. We’re hopeful it gets cleared up shortly, but we want to make sure. Backs are tricky.”

Thibodeau is notorious for pushing his players. He has them playing late in games, even when the Bulls are blowing out their opponents. How will he handle his superstar MVP through an apparent serious injury? Back issues are serious. When most athletes have a back injury, it lingers throughout their career. Also, could it be that Thibodeau’s pushing aggravated the injury?

Rose is scheduled to see a back specialist. Bulls fans hope this does not turn out to be of a too serious nature and Rose can get back on the court and lead the Bulls to the promised land. If not, this shortened season may be a long, miserable one.

Let’s be honest , if Derick rose is out of the game, then the bulls will be screwed. I know that and the coach knows it as well.

Right. But the same can be said about any other team with a superstar. The Bulls have played well without him so far. I don’t see them making a long playoff run without him, though. Just like the Heat, who played well without Wade for awhile. If he’s not there come playoff time, however, the Heat will not win a title…

True, but this is Chicago bulls , a team with little to no nba stars.Let’s face it they need an mvp. The heats have wade, lebron, bush . they can still make it true the play offs but Chicago… not sure. Wait who do you think will win ? Because many think that the heats got this in the bag.

I still think it will be the Bulls and Oklahoma CIty Thunder in the Finals. The Heat have the stars, but they have them, plus Battier, James Jones, Chalmers, and Miller who are wing players. If you get into a running game with them, you will get crushed. If you slow them down, as the Bulls have shown they can do, then you have a shot. Remember, Miami won last year, but all their wins were tough, close victories. They still have no answer for an opponent’s bigs or point guard. The Bulls have Noah, who is a machine, and of course, the MVP, Derrick Rose. If the Heat bring James to cover Rose this time, however, Rip Hamilton can be HUGE. If he hits his shots, it frees up not only Rose, but also Korver, who is a deadly 3 point shooter. It will be another great series, probably 7 games, and don’t expect another meltdown at home by the Bulls like they had last year.

Well, we’ll see how the play-offs will turn out. But with Derrick Rose injured it will only be a matter of time before he collapses under his coaches pressure.

Rose is not injured, he is hurting. He has spasms. He’s had them since he was in high school. With the schedule this season however, he needs to have his rest. As I said before, with the schedule getting easier for the Bulls, they will have more off days and more home games so he can get the rest he needs. Come playoff time he’ll be more than ready, and now that the bench players have played big time minutes in close games, so will they…
