Lin-sanity taking over in NY

Jeremy Lin was nearly released by his third team of the season. That was until he took over Madison Square Garden and he has now guided the Knicks to a 5 game winning streak. He was once the 4th string point guard on the team and now he has a guaranteed contract.

Can you imagine going from crashing on your brothers couch to being the starting point guard for the New York Knicks? Wow. That is what life has become for Lin, who has had 20+ points in 5 straight games and it doesn’t look like it will stop anytime soon. He was even compared to John Stockton and Steve Nash by the legendary Magic Johnson. He might have been getting ahead of himself, but it’s not crazy to think that Lin possess some characteristics of the two.

The Knicks are now 5-0 without STAT and Melo. With Stoudemire set to rejoin the team on Monday, it will be interesting to see what happens from here. Lin obviously does not need to be a scorer on this team once STAT and Melo do return, so everyone should expect his scoring to go down, but that just means his assist totals will grow.

The Knicks have been in search of a true point guard since the beginning of the season. They have been waiting on Baron Davis for what feels like forever and he had a setback last week. It might be reasonable to believe that Lin will be the starting point guard for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs. Lin showed that he can perform even on a big stage with his 38 point game against the Lakers.

Have you caught Linsanity yet? If not, it’s coming…

Jeremy Lin is now giving every kid a hope and prayer to keep their dream alive. It’s about patience and working hard. When he got his chance he grabbed it and won’t let go. Jeremy Lin is what the Knicks and the NBA needed.

So what happens when Amar ‘e and Melo get back and they each demand the ball? Who will he make happier? They have had trouble coexisting and now a new factor will be entered.

You can think of it like that (the Jon Barry way) or you can think of it like this: Amar’e LOVES what Lin brings to the table. Amar’e thrives on it and always has. Lin will not have the need to score 20+ points a night and his assist total will only rise. Melo will have no choice but to adjust or he will be seen as the odd man out in NY. Like Chris Broussard has said, NY will either make you or break you and for Melo, the ball is in his court. Pun intended.

Good point if it was about a normal player, but after giving up half the team to get Melo, do you think D’Antoni will be able to stand up to him, or if he does, will ownership allow it?

After forcing the trade to the Knicks, do you really think that Melo is going to want to be the one to hold this team back? The fans that he forced himself to would boo him relentlessly night in and night out. Melo will make the adjustment. Book it.
