Underworld Awakening

Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species. — (C) Official Site

Scott’s Take

I think it’s time to say goodnight to the Underworld franchise.  I’ll admit I was at once interested, but I feel there isn’t another good underworld story to tell. Lycans, Vampires, who cares?

Steve’s Take

I’m not as interested as I once was in this series, but it still has Kate Beckinsale behind it and it should still do well in the theaters.

This dynamic action-thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh boasts a talented cast that includes Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas, Michael Angarano; and introduces MMA superstar Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, in a demanding lead role that has her performing her own high-adrenaline stunts. Mallory Kane is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency. Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive. — (C) Relativity Media

Scott’s Take

I can’t wait to see how the great combination of Steven Soderbergh and MMA superstar Gina Carano translates to the big screen. Early word on Haywire is very positive. I will be in line on opening day.  Will you?

Steve’s Take

Yes, I will Scott. This looks like a solid addition to this weeks new releases. Gina Carano will bring people in to see this on her own with her MMA following.

Red Tails

1944. To help win the war, the Pentagon brass has no choice but to consider the untested African-American pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program. Just as the young Tuskegee men are about to be shut down and shipped back home, they are given the ultimate chance to show their courage. These intrepid young airmen take to the skies to fight for their country – and the fate of the free world. — (C) Official Site

Scott’s Take

Red Tails is george Lucas life long ” dream” project.  I can’t say I’m 100% sold by the trailer, but I’m getting there.  What do you think?

Steve’s Take

I think this movie looks absolutely atrocious. The acting looks bad and the special effects look horrendous as well. This is a must NOT see.

Next Week

That’s all we have wide this week.  Next week we have Man on a Ledge, One for the Money, and The Grey.  Have a great week!
