The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first film in Columbia Pictures’ three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s literary blockbuster The Millennium Trilogy. Directed by David Fincher and starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, the film is based on the first novel in the trilogy, which altogether have sold 50 million copies in 46 countries and become a worldwide phenomenon. — (C) Sony

Scott’s Take

Out of all the movies being released this holiday season, this is the one I’ve been waiting to see.  I’m a big fan of the original trilogy and I can’t wait to see what David Fincher does with this material.  I was a skeptic about Rooney Mara playing Lisbeth Salender, but according to early reviews, all of my fears have been put to rest.  Get ready for the feel bad movie of the year!

The Adventures of Tintin

Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures Present a 3D Motion Capture Film The Adventures of Tintin directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish. Starring Jamie Bell as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig as the nefarious Red Rackham. — (C) Official Site

Scott’s Take

I was a big fan of Tintin growing up.  I really hope that Steven Spielberg has learned from Robert Zemeckis and his”dead eye” syndrome that plagued The Polar Express.  This looks like an animated version of Indiana Jones…with a dog! My chips are on the table for this one.

Later this week…

These are just Wednesday releases, folks. More to come later in the week and of course, Christmas Day!
