In news that will make all Bulls’ fans ecstatic, the Chicago Bulls and reigning MVP Derrick Rose are finalizing an extension to keep Rose in his hometown for years to come.
The extension is reportedly for 5 years, $94 million. Rose has 2 years left on his rookie deal. He is scheduled to make $6.9 million this season and $9.1 million next season. The extension will have him with the Bulls until 2017.
“Derrick is the centerpiece of what we’re putting together here,” Bulls General Manager Gar Forman said. “We want Derrick to be a Bull for a long, long time. It’s very important that we put the right pieces around Derrick.”
On the Bulls’ media day on Sunday, Rose was asked about whether or not he was on the verge of signing the deal. “If it was up to me, yes, I would sign quick,” Rose said “But I know I’m not worried about that right now. I know that when the time comes, I know that I’ll sign.”
The sound of that is sweet music to the ears of Bulls fans.
