New in Theaters – 10/21/11

Paranormal Activity 3

The Paranormal Activity franchise continues with this third outing from Paramount Pictures. Oren Peli and Jason Blum return to produce the highly secretive feature, with Catfish’s directing duo of Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman taking on the helming duties. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

Scott’s Take

More of the same.  I love how they tied Paranormal Activity 2 with its predecessor.  Hopefully, it all ends here.  I don’t want to see anymore trailers of security cameras and German Shepherds!

Steve’s Take

How many more can this series possibly add to the collection? I’m not opposed to seeing this but I hope it doesn’t turn into the Final Destination disaster.

The Three Musketeers

The hot-headed young D’Artagnan (Logan Lerman) joins forces with three rogue Musketeers (Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson) in this reboot of Alexandre Dumas’ story. They must stop the evil Richlieu (Christoph Waltz) and face off with Buckingham (Orlando Bloom) and the treacherous Milady (Milla Jovovich). The action adventure is given a state of the art update in 3-D. — (C) Summit

Scott’s Take

This movie looks like hot garbage.  Okay maybe hot garbage in 3D.  Maybe it will surprise me!

Steve’s Take

Due to the level of hot garbage here, I am going to take this opportunity to do something that Scott has demanded of me. I apologize to all of you that I have ever slammed an Apple product in front of. I just bought the iPhone 4s and I have to admit that I am in love. Siri is my new best friend and I am hooked. Please do not go see this movie.

Johnny English Reborn

Johnny English-In the years since MI7’s top spy vanished off the grid, Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) has been honing his unique skills in a remote region of Asia. But when his agency superiors learn of an attempt against the Chinese premier’s life, they must hunt down the highly unorthodox agent. Now that the world needs him once again, Johnny English is back in action. With one shot at redemption, he must employ the latest in hi-tech gadgets to unravel a web of conspiracy that runs throughout the KGB, CIA and even MI-7. With mere days until a heads of state conference, one man must use every trick in his playbook to protect us all. For Johnny English, disaster may be an option, but failure never is. — (C) Offical Site

Scott’s Take

Is Johnny English actually going to find an audience this weekend? My guess is absolutely not.  Teens will flock to the third helping of Paranormal Activity as Mr. English gets ready for a long Blu-Ray run. Wait for DVD on this one.

Steve’s Take

This has “should have gone straight to DVD” written all over it. What were they thinking bringing this one back. Stop it already. Looks like an outdoor activity on Saturday and football all day Sunday for me.

Next Week

Next week we have Johnny Depp in The Rum Diary, Justin Timberlake in In Time, and Puss in Boots with Antonio Banderas.  Have a great weekend!

“Three Musketeers” certainly does look like hot garbage. LOL.

The trailers might as well say “This movie sucks bad” on them.
