Epstein Bolts Red Sox for Cubs

12 Oct

Steve here, talking about Scotty’s favorite team. The Red Sox collapse has been a topic of conversation for several weeks now and they have just lost their second member of management as a result. Theo Epstein, boy-genius general manager has bolted the Red Sox in favor of the Chicago Cubs.

We have all heard many good things about Theo in the past and now is going to be the time when the second guess will come in to play. Carl Crawford was a disaster, but who could blame Theo for that one? Crawford was the prized free-agent of the off-season and several teams were after him. John Lackey is a completely different story. He has proven that he was a bust. Every team has them, but I guess Theo just got tired of life in Bean town.

He now heads to the windy city and Cub-ville. Who will his first target be? Albert? Prince? Only time will tell.

Lackey and JD Drew were questionable deals at best too. I think Theo will do a good job in Chicago. He has a ton of cap space to work with as the Cubbies have about $40 mill on the books next season. If he can win a WS in Chicago after a 103 year drought after bringing 2 to the Red Sox then he’s def a hall of famer. Nice post.

Thanks! You are right on the money with the hall of famer comment…no double about it.
