Contagion

Contagion follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart. — (C) Warner Bros.

Scott’s Take

Contagion looks absolutely terrifying.  I can’t wait to see Steven Soderbergh’s take on airborne viruses wiping out the world.  This is the real 2012. Eat your heart out Roland Emerich!

Steve’s Take

Can you imagine being in the situation these people are in? It is probably the most horrific thought that one can think of. That is exactly why this movie is going to do so well at the box office. Go see it Friday!

Warrior

Haunted by a tragic past, ex-Marine Tommy Conlon (Hardy) returns home for the first time in fourteen years to enlist the help of his father (Nick Nolte) to train for SPARTA, the biggest winner-takes-all event in mixed martial arts history. A former wrestling prodigy, Tommy blazes a path toward the championship while his brother, Brendan (Edgerton), an ex-fighter-turned teacher, returns to the ring in a desperate bid to save his family from financial ruin. But when Brendan’s unlikely, underdog rise sets him on a collision course with the unstoppable Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront each other and the forces that pulled them apart, facing off in the most soaring, soul-stirring, and unforgettable climax that must be seen to be believed. — (C) Lionsgate

Scott’s Take – 4 Stars

I had the opportunity to see Warrior last weekend and let me tell you, it is FANTASTIC. It doesn’t matter if you follow MMA or not, the real drama comes outside the cage.  Tom Hardy is an absolute animal and if his Tommy Conlon is a tune up for Bane in The Dark Knight Rises…watch out!  Joel Edgerton and Nick Nolte also hold their own and I promise every guy out there, you will have a lump in your throat as you leave the theater.  One of the year’s best.

Steve’s Take

I didn’t get the chance to see this one just yet, but I trust Scotty’s opinion on this one. Can’t wait to see it and you should see it also!

In Closing

Two really good movie this week.  It’s been awhile but the Fall Oscar contenders are going to start getting released and muscles will start being flexed.  Next week we have Ryan Gosling as a get away driver in Drive.  James Marsden in the Straw Dog remake , and ladies, your fearless leader has another one hitting the big screen in I Don’t Know How She Does It.  Have a great time at the movies and GO SEE WARRIOR!
