Let me start off by saying that my pick for a movie this week was Crazy, Stupid, Love. The cast seemed to be perfect for this kind of movie and it looked as though the story had the perfect combination of comedy and romance. Here is what I found out about this movie.
Steve Carell does a good job playing this pathetic and broken down husband who finds out that his wife wants a divorce. All he really wants to do through out the entire movie is get back with his wife. It seems as though he has lost touch with what it is like to be on the prowl for women. He eventually gets some help from the hot stud in the bar played by Ryan Gosling. This is where the story really begins.
Carell begins to learn what it takes to get the attention of the women in the bar and of course it is a funny road through embarrassment and awkward conversations before he really catches on. Gosling plays his character as Carell’s opposite quite well. It helps that the ladies in the theater swoon each time Gosling has a scene with his shirt off.
Emma Stone continues to serve as a scene grabber in this one. She has done good work for a decent amount of time now and she doesn’t look to be slowing down. Her sex appeal definitely comes from her sense of humor and her ability to have the theater laugh through out her scenes.
The movie has the perfect balance of comedy and story. When the comedy leaves for a few minutes the buildup of the story takes hold. The only issue I had with the movie was that it was a little long and there were 2 or 3 scenes that dragged on a bit. Keep that in mind when going to see this movie.
In the end, I have no reason to not recommend this movie if you are looking for something to do this weekend. This is especially true if you are looking for a movie to take your significant other to. Enjoy!
